Dr. Marshall Nash & Cynthia Wolfe/NeuroStudies.net
NeuroStudies.net is a clinical research group dedicated to improving treatment options for neurological conditions that grew from Dr. Marshall L. Nash’s medical practice, Dekalb Neurology Associates, LLC. At NeuroStudies.net, they are actively involved in the investigation of new medications and therapies.
Their facilities include a -70 degree freezer, monitored by ADT Security, and their medications are double locked. Their successful medical practice and two research locations have developed into one of the top research centers with excellence in meeting and exceeding enrollment goals.
Dr. Nash has held the distinction of Certified Physician Investigator (CPI) with the Association of Clinical Research Professionals since 2002. He is one of only a few private practice neurologists worldwide who devote 100% of their clinical practice time to clinical research. As an expert consultant for many academic and pharmaceutical research projects, Dr. Nash is involved in some of the most promising and innovative research trials in neurology today, including Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Acute Stroke, Diabetic Neuropathy, Vascular Dementia and Migraine.
Susie Brown & Bill Hood/StarNeuroScience Foundation
NeuroScience Foundation was created in September 2010 and is dedicated to encouraging and opening the availability of neurological research by supporting clinical research, public outreach and education focused on neurological diseases. The goal of the foundation is to raise funds to enhance neurological research, start new medical research sites, train new research employees, encourage hospital research, and supplement existing research sites in Georgia and the Southeastern States.
Failure to support research will put people at risk and damage patient care of the future. The timeframe to conduct research and achieve approval from the FDA is a lengthy process which sometimes takes as long as 10 years, and is relatively slow compared to the progression of the disease itself. The foundation proposes to speed up the process by finding quality treatments for these diseases by allowing sites to participate in many neurological trials to include Stroke and Alzheimer’s disease that are currently financially out of reach.
Stroke, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease are some of the devastating diseases that strike patients in the prime of their life and cause great family and societal burdens. Dr. Marshall Nash is committed to research that will “pursue the disease and not the medication”. His goal is not to pursue medications that are already available, but to find new treatment options that will improve the patient’s life and disease.
