Jake Johnson’s Garage was started in 1922 by John “Jake” Johnson Jr. in downtown Atlanta on Courtland Street. In 1934, the business was relocated to Piedmont and Monroe Drive and became the first AMOCO station in Atlanta. Jake Johnson’s Garage was one of the first foreign car repair shops in Atlanta. John Johnson III took over in 1951, continuing service in Atlanta at three other locations over the years. Eventually relocating to Buford in 1988, Jeff Johnson took over in 1992 and continues to operate the family business to this day.
