Located on the corner of Milledge and Cobb within Athens’ historic Cobbham District, Donderos’ has been crafting culinary delights for the community for nearly 9 years. Family owned and oriented, they pride themselves on providing their customers with a friendly and personalized experience.
Donderos’ features a full-service café with locally roasted coffees, fine teas, and an extensive selection of baked goods. Their signature sandwiches, house-made soups and salads, cold sesame noodles and deli dishes, as always, include vegetarian options and gluten-free offerings. Breakfast and brunch are served daily, as there is no meal more important than breakfast! Main-course food items as well as house soups are available frozen for heating and enjoying at home, or by advance order prepared for pick-up. Catering of events from small parties to wedding receptions remains central to their business.
Tim Dondero, Executive Chef, is an international medical researcher, as well as a chef, cooking teacher, and food writer. He can work with interested catering customers in designing special menus for international focus or special dietary requirements. The staff also includes fine cooks and bakers.
Sarah Babrick/WES Foundation
The WES Leukemia Research Foundation is a Gwinnett County birthed non-profit that is seeking the day When Everyone Survives by investing in new, innovative and potentially curative leukemia research. They work very hard to keep overhead extremely low so that all funds raised go directly to research. Each spring, they have a Medical Advisory Board that reviews the grants submitted to WES from researchers all around the world and they determine the top grant recipients – who will receive $50,000 towards their research on July 1st. Even though a cure has not been found, yet, WES Foundation funded research has been extremely successful in development and many new treatment options have been discovered that provide a better quality of life for those going through a battle with leukemia.
